Paris, capital of sustainable fashion? #111

2020/14/12

While the whole world will be looking to Paris for the Olympic Games, the city is also dreaming, in 2024, of being an exemplary example in the world of sustainable development.

The issue has been raised several times in recent months by actors in the fashion industry. And the pandemic followed by a difficult economic and social context seems to have precipitated the movement. The most striking example: Paris Good Fashion, founded in 2019. This 62-member collective is made up of numerous brands, but also industrialists in the sector, media, and large groups. Isabelle Lefort, a co-founder, explains: “We created PGF, at the initiative of the City of Paris, to accelerate the fashion sector’s transition to sustainable development, both environmentally and socially. We are working together to share best practices, develop concrete solutions, and make sincere commitments. “A first citizen consultation on responsible fashion has been launched with Make.org and the help of major partners (Etam, Petit Bateau, Vestiaire Collective) who are committed to studying the proposed solutions and taking concrete action. Another PGF operation: the creation of a map that lists all the players in sustainable fashion, including 100 second-hand shops, 150 responsible creative brands, places for repairs, maintenance, rentals, etc.
