IFM-Kering Sustainability Certificate: 10 contribution projects presented to a professional jury #372

2022/15/04

On 8 April 2022, the 35 students of the IFM-Kering Fashion Sustainability Certificate presented 10 projects that contribute to the evolution of the fashion industry and on which they have been working since November.

Carried out in groups or individually, these projects are intended to propose a product or a solution that is part of a sustainable approach from an environmental, social or economic angle. The aim of this program is to bring together students currently studying at IFM at Bachelor, Master or Executive MBA level, in either fashion management or fashion design.

The jury that evaluated them was composed of Laura Balmond, Lead, Fashion of the Ellen McArthur Foundation, Riccardo Bellini, CEO of Chloé, Kering Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer, Eric Dupont, Director of sustainable development supply chain and sourcing transformation of Chanel, Anouck Duranteau-Loeper, CEO of Isabel Marant, Pascal Morand, Executive President of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and Xavier Romatet, Dean of IFM.

The projects addressed one or several aspects of sustainable development: ecoresponsible product lines, craft and heritage, new business models, social impact, communication strategies, etc.

Certificate in Fashion Sustainability

Issued by the IFM-Kering Sustainability Chair, the certificate is an interdisciplinary program which aims to bring together students currently studying at IFM at Bachelor, Master or Executive MBA level, in either fashion management or fashion design. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to advance sustainability goals and practices within the fashion and luxury industry. From November to the end of May, students follow a complete 55-hour course including lectures, exchanges with experts in sustainable development and CSR as well as a contribution project carried out individually or in teams.

Project: Sustainable Fashion Web-series

Sustainability should be a central focus when discussing the modern fashion scene and this begins with forging a strong narrative of change.
The team worked with Paris Good Fashion to create a web-series that will follow the lives of students of Institut Français de la Mode in an efficient and creatively conceptualized way to raise awareness about topics in sustainable fashion such as awakening environmental altruism and activism, upcycling, greenwashing, labor safety crisis, fast fashion, etc.
