2024/21/03

On Thursday, March 28, 2024, as part of the Sustainability Certificate IFM x Kering and under the patronage of Senator Jean Hingray, students from the French Institute of Fashion (IFM) will present six contributory projects focusing on sustainable development: social impact, solidarity, material valorization, circularity, eco-friendly products, participation, and engagement.

The projects, focusing on social impact, solidarity, material valorization, circularity, eco-friendly products, participation, and engagement, will be showcased. One of the proposed projects by the students will be the subject of a legislative proposal.

This certificate is an additional program open to IFM students pursuing a master’s or third year of bachelor’s degree, both in fashion design and fashion management. It brings together forty students, selected based on their motivation to work on an impactful project. Supplementary to sustainability teachings provided in each of the school’s programs (thirty hours), it offers the opportunity to work for six months on a concrete project.

The projects presented this Thursday, March 28, at the Senate (Palais du Luxembourg) focus on: homelessness in Paris in partnership with Sheltersuit Foundation and Balenciaga; teaching sustainable fashion in schools; textile waste valorization (circular program in partnership with The Or Foundation); Innovative wool bathing suits in partnership with Villebrequin and Woolmark; technological and innovative solutions for valorizing unsold stocks in partnership with Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design and Kering; the creation of a “resource website” and events illustrating the levers of eco-responsibility in the fashion industry, in partnership with Paris Good Fashion.

Concrete experiments will be presented to a jury composed of fashion industry experts and association leaders.

For 2024, the jury comprises: Jean-Marc Bellaiche, President of the Printemps group; Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye, Vice-President of UNICEF France; Marie-Claire Daveu, Director of Sustainable Development and Institutional Affairs at Kering; Eric Dupont, Director of Sustainable Development, Transformation, Supply Chain, and Channels at Chanel; Anouck Duranteau-Loeper, CEO of Isabel Marant; Françoise Gaille, Biologist, Scientific Advisor at CNRS and President of the Ocean Sustainability Foundation; Pierre-Arnaud Grenade, CEO of Bash; Jean Hingray, Senator of Vosges and member of the Commission for Culture, Education, Communication, and Sport; Rosalie Mann, Founder and President of No More Plastic Foundation; Pascal Morand, Executive President of the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion; and Xavier Romatet, Director General of IFM.
