French knitters mutualize their needs and resources #198

The union makes the force. A “club of knitters” will be created, bringing together all actors in this sector through their regional textile federations. All headed by the Federation of the Knitwear, Lingerie and Swimwear.

It is to explore the possibilities of pooling common actions. The decision was taken in the context of various research tracks on the relocation of the textile sector in France carried by the CSF Mode & Luxe. For the time being, some thirty companies are participating in the structuring of this group and in the prioritization of its objectives.

To begin with, a census of knitters’ technical resources has been undertaken (machines, gauges, etc.) in order to create a database of know-how. And, beyond collaboration opportunities, knitting companies also share training and recruitment issues. Needs have been identified, starting with the positions of hosiery technician and operator and maintenance or garment technician. They are directly linked to the retirements expected in the coming years.
